Life is Short, Choose Wisely - and Use Spellcheck
This page lists stories that are in progress and those already written and available. I update this page once or twice per month, as stories are being worked on and made available. When stories are available, links will be provided to where they can be found.
A Whisper in the Dark: (rework in progress) Originally written in 2012. Vanity e-published in 2013. Unpublished in 2023. The plan is to make this a free story, available here on this website in the first or second quarter 2026 (maybe). (learn a little more here)
UPDATE: This story is done and will be available for free later in 2026.
Something Worse: (rework in progress) Originally written in around 2005, meant to be a fifteen-chapter novella, but I never finished the last three chapters. It is in the same vein as A Whisper in the Dark, as the protagonist is Navarr. I have been told that all my stories that revolve around Navarr are nobledark stories. It might be available third or fourth quarter of 2026, but I have not made up my mind yet. I don’t want to rush anything.
UPDATE: Done. I suspect it will be published early 2027.
The Closed Casket Jackpot!: Modern fiction, satire, and suspense. It’s About a guy named Uncle Bob, his nephew Jack, Jack’s girlfriend Denise, and a lottery ticket. Outline (notes in a spiral notebook) was completed several years ago, and I recently went back and did some revising on it. (UPDATE: This book is done, edited, formatted for print and e-book publishing on KDP. I might publish it before the end of the year 2026).
Fog Over Fell’s Point: Book One of the Calvert Mysteries. A 50k-word novella written in Oct/November 2025, with the second draft completed in December 2025. I do not intend to publish this novella until after the first three books of The Calvert Mysteries are finished and ready for publication.
Blood on the Water: Book Two of the Calvert Mysteries. 45 to 55k-word novella. Started with one-third of the first draft completed late December 2025. My goal is to have the first draft completed by the end of January 2026. As of 1-13-26 I am working on Chapter 11. My outline has sixteen chapters; if some chapters go long, I may break them into two, which will, of course, increase the overall chapter count.
Update: Completed the first draft on 1-26-26. I am going to let this one sit for a few weeks before I go back and look at it for some revision work. I will eventually run it through Grammarly to check grammar, spelling, word skips, etc… I will keep it minimal, because if you’re not careful, Grammarly will change your prose.
Untitled: Book Three of the Calvert Mysteries. Outline and chapter beat sheet completed. Not Started.
